Therapy Center, Inc. Staff
Sue Meyer, ASHA certified,
Speech/Language Pathologist, opened the Reading Therapy
Center, Inc. in June of 2003. Since that time, the
Reading Therapy Center, Inc. has expanded and moved to its
new location at 108 Becker Ave SE in Willmar, MN. Staff members,
Christy Groen, LSW and Chontelle Hansen, SLD, have 8-12 years of
intensive
training and experience using
the *Lindamood-Bell® remedial therapies, both privately
and within the school systems.
“Whole
Staff Approach”
In addition to the *Lindamood-Bell® programs, nothing differentiates
the Reading Therapy Center Inc. from other resources more than
the involvement of the entire staff with each client. In implementing
a plan of action, several staff members work with a client
and the entire staff has input. This cooperative effort draws
on the perspectives and abilities of a pool of experts.
“Plan of
Action”
- A thorough
evaluation is initially performed to pinpoint
the underdeveloped learning processes that are causing difficulties
in reading, spelling, language and/or math. These
assessment results are presented to parents and/or clients
immediately
following the evaluation. Recommendations are
made
at this
time and a written
report will follow.
- If therapy
is chosen, an individual plan of action is
developed for the client. This plan will recommend the type
of therapy or therapies needed and estimate the number
of
hours
it will require to complete an effective program.
- A post
evaluation will be completed at the end of therapy to evaluate
specific
results in the areas addressed. These results will
be shared verbally and in a written report
to the parents and/or client.
The
Reading Therapy Center, Inc. staff teaches by asking questions
that stimulate a person to think about
information rather than memorize it. This guided sensory
cognitive approach establishes
a dialogue between clients and staff that is positive and supportive
and enables clients to become self-correcting, independent
learners.
